Rapper Ca$h Out and His Mother Face Shocking Sex Trafficking Trial in Atlanta

Atlanta rapper Ca$h Out, best known for his flashy 2012 hit "Cashin' Out," is now part of far more sinister headlines, along with his mama. The two are awaiting trial in Fulton County, Georgia, on charges that are no laughing matter, including rape, sex trafficking and racketeering.

Atlanta rapper Ca$h Out is said to have footled funds to fund his music career and maintain his public persona.Ca$h Out, whose real name is John Michael Hakeem Gibson, along with his mother Linda Smith, who also goes by the name Mama Ca$h Out, was charged for having operated a criminal enterprise that reportedly forced and manipulated females into selling sex during the time frame of 2018-2021.

Prosecutors say this was not a one-off mistake or a solitary lapse in judgment. They allege that the Gibson "swindle" was a well-oiled human-trafficking ring, with the aid of Gibson, a Germanall-managing ticket broker formerly based in Berlin and selling humans like they were tickets, they say who allegedly used his famous son to entice women with promises of wealth and stardom. Once inside their orbit, the women were allegedly isolated, their money and lives managed, and, in some cases, threatened tactics straight from a gnawing playbook that offered little hope for escape, investigators said.

It is alleged that Smith wasn't a passive participant but appeared to have directed the operation, running the women and receiving money from their work. Authorities describe her as a "key figure" in the network, working behind the scenes while her son served as the public face of the enterprise.

The Fulton County District Attorney's Office called the case "deeply disturbing" and cited it as another example of the abuse of celebrity power. The accusations span several years and a range of different locations in the Atlanta area, from apartments to hotel rooms, where the women were said to be exploited, the authorities said.

This is not a fall from grace for Ca$h Out; it's a plummet. The fame that lit up Davis's music career early on in the 2010s had already dimmed by now, and he's more frequently in the news today for his legal entanglements. He was first arrested in March 2022 after a lengthy investigation carried out by both local law enforcement and the Fulton County DA's Office.

The trial started on Monday, June 2, 2025, and is expected to last several weeks. Both Ca$h Out and Smith have pleaded not guilty, but a possible conviction could send them to prison for decades.

It's a sad turn for fans who once considered Gibson a young star on the rise, a rapper with a catchy hook and a superstar career before him. But the one that has emerged in the courtroom is a far more sinister tale in which purported power, profit, and manipulation intersected to produce a stinging reality for the women in its crosshairs.
