Wiz Khalifa Says 30 Joints a Day Keeps Life in Balance

Actor Wiz Khalifa, 39, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The rapper, weed entrepreneur, and self-professed weed head pulled back the smoky curtain on his daily routine: participating in the sesh (that is, blazing up 30 joints) to keep his head clear, his vibe right, and his grind tight.

"Somebody put it a really good way the other day," Wiz later told Kimmel, with his characteristic, laid-back smile. "You smoke and then you just try and do all the normal things you do every day … I love it."

Let's be real: most of us would be spread eagle on the sidewalk by the third joint. But for Wiz, it's not about zoning out. It's about zoning in. His extreme cannabis consumption, he says, is a form of mental weightlifting. It makes him sharper, not less sharp. It adds up for someone who built their empire, staying high and true.

Those who have followed Aquaris for some time aren't likely to be surprised. Khalifa's relationship with weed is not a phase. It's nearly woven into his brand, a tattoo etched across his lifestyle, perhaps as much as it is emblazoned into his lyrics. He began taking as a teenager in the studio amidst artists, beats, and creative energy.

"It was only for musical reasons," he said. "Your in the studio and you're hanging around other musicians and it's just a thing that you do. It became sort of a thing that, you know, later on in life, it helped me get through a lot of other things."

But don't get it twisted ; Wiz isn't just sitting on the couch all day. He's raising kids, hitting the gym, running businesses, and dropping bangers. When pressed over whether he can still perform his job despite all those, uh, highs, he didn't balk.

"Yeah, yeah, yup," he said casually. "I have things to do."

And that is also what makes this story so … Wiz. He doesn't romanticize weed as a crutch or an escape. For him, it's a tool, a green filter through which he strategizes his life, from parenting to weight room to bank account.

The timing couldn't be better for this candid convo. As cannabis laws loosen across the U.S., including in several states such as California, with adult recreational use laws, discussions like these are becoming more common. Khalifa's candor has put a human face to a lifestyle often viewed as a taboo thing, and he's accomplishing it all with a sense of humor, a heavy dose of honesty, and, let's face it, a lot of pot.

So, while the rest of us exert effort to drink enough water or remember our passwords, Wiz Khalifa makes daily life look like a hazy, high-functioning hustle, 30 joints at a time.
