Beyoncé Reunites With Viral Superfan Anthony Cosby During Cowboy Carter Tour

When Beyoncé performed at the Northwest Stadium in Washington, D.C., last weekend as part of a July 4th blowout for her fans, she didn’t just give them fireworks; she offered them a full-circle moment that was more than 10 years in the making.

Halfway through her Cowboy Carter set, Queen Bey stopped everything and locked eyes with a face she knew in the crowd. With a knowing grin, she walked to the lip of the stage and issued the following cheeky shoutout:

“Come on, Anthony. I see you, cousin. Husband.”

That “husband,” of course, would turn out to be Anthony Cosby, the iconic superfan who initially made headlines back in 2009 when he attended Beyoncé’s I Am… tour. Back in the day, Beyoncé had jokingly questioned him about his name during a live performance of “Say My Name.” Swift on his feet and swift with charm, Cosby famously shot back: “Anthony Cosby Hyphen Knowles. When she followed up with whether he was her cousin, he didn’t skip a beat, replying: “I’m your husband!”

That now-famous banter was more than just a funny onstage confusion; it turned into a viral fan-favorite moment immortalized in the live “Say My Name” video, which has garnered over 21 million views on YouTube to date.

Fast forward to 2025, and suddenly the moment is alive again. Cosby brought a sign to the D.C. show that said his name, just in case, and Beyoncé saw him. The internet went wild all over again when Cosby shared a clip of the reunion on Instagram the following day, melting the BeyHive’s hearts all over again.

Even Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, joined in the fun. She shared a photo on Instagram of Cosby at the show with a cheeky caption: “Well!! My fantasy son-in-law finally resurfaced last night, accompanied by laughing and heart emojis.

The impromptu reunion served as a touching reminder that, as much of a global phenomenon as Beyoncé is, she hasn’t lost touch with the fans who’ve shown up for her over the years, especially fans who show up with clever signs and unyielding loyalty.

With Cowboy Carter drawing to a close, the run concludes July 26 with back-to-back nights at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nev., just outside Las Vegas, fans are taking in every last drop of the tour’s magic. But for Anthony Cosby, the D.C. tour stop was about more than magic. It was a sweet return to an inside joke that had been in the making for more than 10 years.
