A Stockton rapper by the name of EBK Jaaybo is looking at a devastating amount of federal prison time, with his arrest in Arkansas temporarily halting his rising career and jeopardizing his freedom. Jaaybo, a quickly rising name in the West Coast hip-hop scene, was driving through the Arkansas county’s stretch of Interstate 40 when Arkansas State Police pulled him over on May 18, 2025.
What should have been a routine traffic stop turned into something much more serious. Officers found marijuana, unidentified pills, $8,379 in cash, and a Glock pistol with a machine gun conversion device inside his vehicle, authorities said. The gun, eventually determined to have been stolen from California, was the straw that brought this case to the brink of disaster.

Jaaybo, who had already been convicted of a felony, is facing a litany of charges, including possessing a machine gun in aid of drug trafficking, unlawfully having a weapon, and moving that gun across state lines while under indictment. The maximum sentence Roger Stone faces, if convicted on the most serious charge, is a mandatory minimum of 30 years in prison, a sentence that can effectively end a music career.
He appeared last week before a federal judge in Arkansas and pleaded not guilty. The trial is scheduled for late July 2025. But as the seconds slip away, the stakes only get higher and not just legally, but personally as well as professionally.
Shortly before the arrest, Jaaybo was scheduled to hit the road for NBA YoungBoy’s “MASA” (Make America Slime Again) tour. This big stepping stone could have elevated him to the next level of notoriety. But with the charges hanging over his head, he was quickly removed from the lineup.
Jaaybo has also been in trouble with the law in 2025. In March 2025, he was arrested on unrelated charges of drug possession, probation violations, driving without a license, and ammunition charges. He posted bond on March 19, 2025, only to be back in handcuffs two months later. He served more than a year in San Joaquin County Jail on gun charges before that.
For all the legal setbacks, Jaaybo’s music had been making real noise. He built a loyal following in California with his raw, street-derived lyrics and grimy style. He was widely regarded as one of the next breakout voices from Stockton, rapidly building momentum in an increasingly competitive field.
EBK Jaaybo remains incarcerated at the Pope County Detention Center, awaiting trial as of June 29, 2025. Whether that day represents the beginning of a comeback or the end of the road is up to the judge and a jury.
