Tory Lanez Lifts Chrisean Rock with a Spirit Check Behind Bars

In one moving and metaphysical conversation between two artists fighting to stay on top in the face of their challenges, Tory Lanez found time from the prison cell to give some genuinely heartfelt spiritual guidance to Chrisean Rock, her own recently freed visit to the slammer.

The emotional plea, which Rock posted to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday night (July 22), revealed an unlikely connection between two public figures who are often associated with controversy and chaos but now find themselves both on a quest for spiritual solace. Still, when Lanez, who is serving a 10-year sentence following a 2020 conviction related to the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, called his fellow rapper with this brief message full of faith and encouragement, he sounded calm and centered.

"I'm not none of these fucking n### that's going to be jumping on the Meg mare and making a whole bunch of records just for streams and sh#t like that," Lanez began with honesty, proving he's less interested in coming off holier-than-thou. But his message carried weight. Rock, touched by the answer, had replied, "Nah, bro. I appreciate it, Tory. This means a lot, bro."

Lanez's voice got solemn as he leaned into a more profound message: "You're dealing with a lot, but it's all going to be okay. And they're all going to be for the good of the people. However, you must be willing to make that time and find that intimacy with Him. He wants you to spend some time with Him."

The "Him" Lanez was referring to was God, and its message was loud and clear: turn down the volume of the world and listen to the divine. He encouraged Rock to make time for silence, to be more removed from the noise of social media and public opinion, and to "just get back to the well." "Turn off the phone," he said, "give Him a couple of hours just for the next couple of days."

For Rock, who has recently spoken publicly about her change of heart since being released from the Craig County Detention Center in Oklahoma, the words resonated. She captioned the post, "Thank you, God for the encouraging words!" followed by "I love you Tory!!! FREE YOU HE INNOCENT 💯."

Rock was released in early September 2024, after about three months of remaining indoors, on felony drug charges and a parole violation from a 2022 case. She faced dire consequences up to eight years in prison, but she is now finding a new way, one prayer at a time.

You don't often hear about something like the connection we've both found here, two artists, both being screwed by public opinion and the legal system, empowering each other's spirits. In a moment that felt like gossip but registered like gospel, Tory Lanez demonstrated that a message of healing can still travel and land precisely where it needs to.
