NGAIO's "Hold You Down (Remixed)" is a global bass-driven love letter

Bristol-based NGAIO has an incredible ability to transform personal reflection into universal meaning, and she continues to do so with her latest single, "Hold You Down (Remixed)." This cut was originally a jazzy, introspective examination of vulnerability, but it has bloomed into a brash, tribal, bass-heavy anthem that's all about movement, community, and release. For those who are ready to feel the bass in their body and to their core, NGAIO's new remix will do precisely that and then some.

"Hold You Down (Remixed)" is like touring the world of sound. NGAIO trialled an early remix in the waters of Cuba at Eyeife Festival, before letting the vibrant energy of Dominica dictate its pulse and finally bringing it out in Shanghai for the launch of Night Bloom. By the time she played it at Glastonbury's Nomad Takeover, the track had fully blossomed, and the reception from the crowd was overwhelming.

The remix is taken from NGAIO's Four Quarters Remixed project, which sees her introspective EP transformed into a series of bass-heavy, club-tripping odysseys. Lashing audio chunks into place with the precision of a sound engineer, NGAIO transforms the live performance environment into an experience that celebrates the resilience of underground music, the soundscapes of diaspora, and the liberating potency of music as a collective act.

"Hold You Down (Remixed)" is a hybrid of tribute and manifesto, paying homage to global underground music while serving as a call to move, both physically and emotionally, and spiritually. It is also a statement from NGAIO on her evolution as a producer, unafraid to integrate intimacy and unwavering energy. The music video, shot across Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco, and Glastonbury, reflects the global pulse of the song, combining culture, movement, and sheer life into an unforgettable visual adventure.
