T.I. Trolls Son King Harris With Outrageous Father’s Day ‘Tradition’

This year, the self-proclaimed King of the South flexed his funny bone by inducting his son, King Harris, into what he called a “Father’s Day tradition.” But, true to T.I. form, that was all a totally made-up and hilariously extreme backstory.

T.I., in a video shared on social media, said to his son a hearty “Happy Father’s Day” before launching into an earnest presentation about this widely perceived “time-honored tradition.” “First Father’s Day,” he said, man-of-the-Southern-soil wise. “So I’ve got to tell you about the tradition.

And then it was time for the punchline: “You gotta go climb the tallest tree and grab the weakest branch.”

King stood before her, perplexed, evidently torn between laughter and lacing up his boots. But Pops didn’t miss a beat.

“And then you got to get pushed in the pool,” he added. “But you got to do it before sundown… Your son is gone’ watch you do it.

By then, it was difficult to discern what was acting and what was T.I. just about to crack up. Either way, King looked utterly bewildered, unsure if he was witnessing some family rite of passage or the beginning of a new episode of Wild ’n Out.

But T.I. wasn’t quite finished stoking the flames. “I’m next to call Messiah ’cuz he got to come out and do it too,” he added, referring to his eldest son, who is also expecting his first child. “It’s y’all first Father’s Day.”

With a sardonic grin breaking through, T.I. turned and marched off. His backhand tossed, “I’m going to pick you out a good tree,” and then he let the laughter out.

If you’ve been keeping up with T.I. for the last two decades, you know that he doesn’t take himself too seriously regarding his family. The Atlanta rap hero, 43, is not just a hip-hop heavy; he’s also a proud papa of seven, soon to be eight times over, and a grandfather of three.

He has three kids with his wife, Tiny Harris King, Major, and Heiress, while T.I. also has co-parents Messiah, Domani, and Deyjah from previous relationships. He’s also been a dad figure to Tiny’s daughter Zonnique, who made him a grandfather last year.

With King now the big brother and Daddy himself Messiah not far behind, it’s obvious the next generation in the Harris lineage has officially arrived. And if T.I. has his way, they’ll be climbing trees and dodging pranks for a long time.
