It began on Wednesday (July 2, 2025) when longtime Hot 97 DJ Funk Flex hit up Instagram with an all-caps rant, defending Diddy after the mogul was recently found guilty on two federal counts of transferring an individual interstate for prostitution, one involving Ventura and the other, a woman known as “Jane.” Although he escaped the heavier charges of racketeering and sex trafficking by force, Diddy can still receive up to 20 years in prison and is due to be sentenced on October 3, 2025.
However, Flex did not want to discuss the legal weight of the verdict. Instead, he doubled down on behalf of his longtime friend.
“I’VE KNOWN DIDDY FOR YEARS… NEVER SAW ANYTHING OUT OF ORDER!” Flex wrote, referring to the case as “A STRECH AND WITCH HUNT.” He conceded the Bad Boy mogul “MADE MISTAKES” but soon shifted gears to attack Ventura, complaining that she was cashing in on trauma and questioning her motives.

“YOU CUCKED YOURSELF FOR SALES,” and “YOU WERE GOING TO DROP A BOOK THEN YOU GOT PAID NOT TO DROP THE BOOK!” he wrote. “YOU PLAN THIS ‘LICK’ … I DNT SEE U AS A ‘VICTIM.’ ”
The posting didn’t just raise eyebrows but raised hackles. Flex was quickly condemned by critics for victim-blaming and downplaying the severity of a case that, even without the trafficking convictions, paints a grim portrait of abuse and manipulation.
One of the most savage public clapbacks was, in fact, from Ebro Darden Flex’s co-worker at Hot 97, of all places. “With power comes great responsibility,” Darden said. “People abused their power and took advantage, once again, of young people. Stop making excuses.”
Flex didn’t let up, slamming Cassie further and even casting doubt on her impact: “WHEN DO YOU TEACH GIRLS NOT TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES YOU MADE.” he asked, tacitly suggesting that the responsibility for maneuvering abusive power dynamics lies on the young women being abused, not the men who abuse them.
To many, it seemed like a cringeworthy misdirection away from the gravity of the situation. The court didn’t take the claims lightly either, denying Diddy’s attempt to repurchase his freedom after Ventura’s legal team argued that he could be a danger to those who took the stand.
