Rapper Remy Ma was at the center of a wild, emotionally charged showdown and in cuffs outside a Queens courthouse as feelings spilled over in the case that is ripping two families apart. She was there in support of her 23-year-old son, Jayson “Jace” Scott, who faces the most serious charges in a 2021 fatal shooting. But what began as a contentious court date became a public spectacle when Jazmin Dior, the daughter of the man Ms. Johnson’s son is accused of killing, confronted her.
Dior, weighed down by the rawness of loss, continued to slam Remy Ma (in a video that has since been removed), writing in the caption, “Trying to act like you took me out on this and that, but remember when you had to go around the corner,” later challenging her to “go around the corner.” Remy didn’t retreat. Instead, she said, “C’mon, beat me up,” as she began descending the courthouse steps toward Dior.

The clip cuts away before anything physical happens. Still, Dior later shared a follow-up image on Twitter of Remy Ma in handcuffs on those same steps, one that underscored how heated, impassioned, and personal the moment had grown.
Yet another clip emerged, showing the two women filming themselves in the middle of the row, exchanging insults in a similarly charged manner. Dior, who has emerged as a spirited critic of her father’s killing, later described her hurt in another video, saying, “You would have thought I did something to you. I can never have a conversation with my father again, realistically.” Her voice cracked with truth. “You can see your son,” she added, a chilling reminder of what’s been lost.
Dior said Remy Ma shot her a cold look, “with a whole attitude… like her son was the victim.” And then the piercing question: “Where’s your remorse?”
It is a moment that requires us to look beyond the headlines. Two women, mothers and daughters, battle in the wake of tragedy, and one of them stands at the opposite end of grief, justice, and loyalty.
Scott, Remy Ma’s son, was arraigned earlier this month on a weighty seven-count indictment, which includes charges of first- and second-degree murder. He is accused of being paid to kill Darius Guillebeaux, 47, and firing on him several times, including firing more shots after he had fallen, prosecutors say.
He and his purported accomplice, Richard Swygert, were also arrested in June 2024, and police said at the time that surveillance video and phone contact records helped lead to the two men. Swygert is already in prison for a separate killing.
If found guilty, Scott could be spending the rest of his life in jail with no chance of parole. Remy Ma has publicly supported her son throughout the case. When the tragedy runs this deep, the walls of a courtroom can hardly contain the anguish. And sometimes justice isn’t the only thing on trial.
